Even with regular, comprehensive preventive care, your horse can become sick or suffer an injury. The veterinarians at Scott Equine Services have extensive experience in the non-surgical treatment of diseases that can affect your horse's internal organs and body systems.
Equine internal medicine encompasses a variety of diagnostic and treatment procedures, including diagnostic blood tests, gastroscopy, abdominal ultrasound, spinal taps and airway and gastric endoscopy. Scott Equine Services' medical services for your horse include diagnosis, management and treatment of:

- Cardiac disorders ranging from cardiac ultrasonography and electrocardiography (ECG) to treatment of cardiac arrhythmias.

Gastroscopy
Gastric ulcers can cause several different problems in your horse resulting in poor performance in the show ring or severe episodes of colic. Gastroscopy is the preferred imaging technique to diagnose gastric ulcers by looking inside your horse’s stomach using our portable on-side video gastroscope. We remove the stress of traveling to a clinic by bringing our gastroscope to the horse. Real time images of your horse’s stomach allow us to accurately diagnose gastric ulcers and begin appropriate medical therapy. The process usually takes 1-2 hours depending on the horse and does require a muzzle and the removal of food 12 hours prior to the procedure.

When performing routine wellness examinations or diagnosing an illness, what our veterinarians can't see is as important as what they can.
Laboratory testing provides information about your horse's systemic health without the need for invasive, expensive procedures. Because protecting your horse's health is our most important job, Scott Equine Services features a complete in-house diagnostic laboratory that allows our veterinarians to perform a range of tests on blood, urine, feces and biopsied tissue.
