The Team at Scott Equine Services
Our Veterinarians
Robert Scott, DVM
Dr. Robert Scott is the owner of Scott Equine Services. He began working at the practice as an associate veterinarian in 1998, and purchased it in 2005.
A native of New Jersey, Dr. Scott spent much of his life around pets and in horse barns. "There was always 'doctoring' to be done," says Dr. Scott. "There are a lot of minor cuts, scrapes, bruises and swellings that horse owners often take care of themselves. The combination of my upbringing and my natural predisposition toward the sciences inspired me to pursue veterinary school."
Dr. Scott attended Cornell University for his undergraduate work, where he majored in biology. He earned his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Cornell University School of Veterinary Medicine in 1996. He is a member of the American Veterinary Chiropractic Association, the Florida Association of Equine Practitioners, the American Association of Equine Practitioners, the American Veterinary Medical Association and the International Society for Veterinary Acupuncture.
"The most satisfying aspect for me of veterinary medicine is achieving a positive result through accurate diagnosis and appropriate interventions." says Dr. Scott. "Veterinary medicine is the perfect combination of science, horsemanship, animal care and compassion in a field that is continually evolving."
At home, Dr. Scott has a dog, Chip. In his free time he enjoys traveling, working out, and going to movies.
Nathan Heidbrink, DVM
Nebraska native Dr. Nathan Heidbrink found his inspiration to become a veterinarian early in life, during the many years of his childhood he happily spent on a farm. "I grew up on a farm with cattle, swine, horses and countless dogs. Home is where I started to find my motivation for the career I chose," says Dr. Heidbrink. "Becoming a horse veterinarian, however, was absolutely driven by my love of riding and competing with horses."
Dr. Heidbrink began his education at the University of Nebraska, completing his undergraduate studies by earning degrees in both Veterinary and Biomedical Science and Animal Science. While in undergraduate and Veterinary school Dr. Heidbrink worked in a research and diagnostic center and as a technician in a race track practice. He earned his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine, and completed a year-long internship at Arizona Equine Medical and Surgical Centre in Gilbert, Arizona.
In June of 2010, Dr. Heidbrink joined Scott Equine Services as an associate veterinarian. He is a member of the Florida Association of Equine Practitioners, the American Association of Equine Practitioners and the American Veterinary Medical Association. His professional interests include lameness and sports medicine, dentistry, internal medicine and imaging.
"The most rewarding part of my job is working with clients and their horses to successfully diagnose and treat difficult cases, especially when in depth examination, imaging, and therapeutic tools are employed," Dr. Heidbrink explains.
In his free time Dr. Heidbrink enjoys cooking, gardening, taking on any home repair or improvement project, biking and playing with his dog Diesel.
