End-of-Life Planning
Euthanasia is a difficult subject for all horse owners. Horses have a life expectancy of twenty-five to thirty years, however even younger horses can face the prospect of euthanasia in the event of a severe illness or injury. No matter what your horse’s age, it is never easy to say goodbye.
Taking the time to plan and knowing what to expect, as challenging as it may be, will lessen the pain and stress for you and your horse. As your veterinarian, you can count on the medical team at Scott Equine Services to provide you with all the information you need to make an informed decision when the time comes. Find out about your options, make key decisions ahead of time, and ask us to add this information to your horse’s record.
All of us at will do our best to help you prepare for these important issues with the compassion and sensitivity they require.
